Company Overview
The Amergence Group provides bold new options for breakthrough business ventures by attracting the resources to fuel their growth and success. The Company's highly specialized group of professionals works with founders and new business owners around the world to create non-traditional funding and growth strategies designed to maximize the potential of innovative businesses.
For a myriad of reasons, traditional venture capital groups reject more than 90% of the approaches made to them by early-stage businesses. As a result, a small number of truly outstanding and visionary businesses never get the chance they deserve to succeed.
The Amergence Group identifies, nurtures, and expands these select companies. Their new business development enterprise (BDE) attracts new and early-growth businesses from a wide range of industries and disciplines that want to take advantage of resources generally not available to them in an environment that accelerates growth.
Employees at The Amergence Group realize these innovative companies, the ones that don't quite fit in--the ones VC firms call "non-traditional"--are precisely those companies that communicate an infectious and palpable vision and inject extraordinary energy and operating expertise into the marketplace. THESE ARE AMERGENCE PEOPLE.
Management
Peter Jacobs
Peter brings over 25 years of telecommunications and technology experience to the Company. Mr. Jacobs served as a president of a nationwide telecommunications inter-exchange carrier for 12 years, where among other achievements he was responsible for the conception, development, and rollout for a then new concept in communications called the Prepaid Calling Card or "telecard". Later that same year, Mr. Jacobs successfully rolled out the first machine-vended telecard in America with a vending machine capable of accounting for and securing more than $10,000 in card sales per machine per month. Within two years, the company developed a nationwide network of 3,000 of these advanced vending machines in almost every major truck stop in the US.
In 1974, Peter established the first electric vehicle dealership on the West Coast called Mini-Energy Systems. He has also owned and managed several high technology firms, including StellarVision International, in 1981, which pioneered pay-per-view movies and satellite television and movies (SMATV systems) in hotels without requiring expensive set-top converters. He published a book on satellite television for non-technical readers, entitled "Everything You Wanted to Know about Satellite Television" and has owned and marketed low power television stations in California and Oregon. From 1998 to present, he has been managing director and a significant shareholder in Sunrise Communications LLC, as well as co-owner of an e-business, Cigar America.
In 2000, Peter agreed to take over management of a Phoenix-based entertainment company and managed to transform the company into the largest provider of copy protection on audio CDs in America. In recognition for the company's production of each CD's computerized session, it was awarded gold, platinum, and double-platinum albums for some of the world's best selling artists. In 2003, Peter appeared as an expert witness before the US House of Representatives Committee on the Internet. Mr. Jacobs spent his earlier years as an on-air radio personality and music director for radio stations in Virginia and New York City, and he has produced dozens of live concerts through his own production company, Wittkow Associates. Mr. Jacobs studied criminology and delinquency and political science at the University of Oregon and received an honorable discharge from the US Army for his active duty during the Vietnam era.
Scott Stoebauer
Scott has been on the cutting edge of technology since 1976 and joins the Amergence Group from MediaMax Technologies, an international sales and marketing group focusing on the discovery and delivery of new products and services within the consumer entertainment, where he serves as president of the company.
Prior to this position, Scott was a senior vice president of Worldata, one of the largest information/media marketing organizations in the US. During his 13-year tenure, he developed, marketed and sold some of the earliest and most innovative Internet and eCommerce marketing systems available anywhere designed to capitalize on the tremendous reach of the Internet as it evolved into a part of our everyday lives. Scott began his career working with Tandy Corporation at the beginning of the PC Revolution, opening and managing its earliest retail Computer Centers. In 1982, after more than 7 years with Tandy, Scott founded Proto-Soft & PS Software, which developed and marketed software for small businesses. These programs were designed to operate on the earliest multi-user PCs. As networking and data communications moved into the commercial mainstream, Scott accepted the position of Northeast District Sales Manager for Digital Communications Associates. There, he assisted Global 2000 corporations in integrating their thousands of PC's with back-room mainframe infrastructures.
